London’s nightlife usually conjures images of pricey club nights and exclusive after‑hours bars. In reality, a good night out can cost under £15 if you know where to look. From rooftop drinks on a student budget to free live gigs in the East End, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the city after dark without draining your wallet.
1. Rooftop Happy Hours – The Sky Garden
At the Sky Garden, the bar offers a 20 % discount on all drinks between 4 pm and 6 pm on weekdays. Grab a pint for £4.50 and a cocktail for £6.50. The view of the city skyline makes the money well worth it.
2. Cheap Pub Crawls – Camden’s Rough Trade
Walk through Camden Market, then hop into the Rough Trade Bar. Their “Crawl Night” on Fridays includes a free beer with every new bar you visit. You can fit three or four stops for less than £12.
3. Live Jazz – Ronnie Scott’s Basement
While the main venue is pricey, the basement bar hosts a weekly “Jazz Night” where the cover is £4.50. The sound quality is surprisingly good for the price, and the crowd is welcoming to newcomers.
4. Street Food & Music – Brick Lane
Brick Lane’s Sunday Market features food stalls selling curries for £3.50 and street musicians performing all night. Pair a plate with a local craft beer for £4, and you’re set.

9. Speakeasy Bars – The Nightjar
The Nightjar’s hidden entrance requires a password, but once inside, the drinks are surprisingly affordable. A classic gin cocktail is £7.00, and the live jazz band starts at 8 pm.

On Saturdays, the Ministry of Sound offers an “Early Bird” entry for £12.50 before 10 pm. The cover charge includes a free drink, and you’ll have the whole club to yourself before the peak crowd arrives.
